I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor in the state of North Carolina. I having been working in this field for over 25 years. I am fortunate to have been afforded the opportunity to work in a variety of settings. These settings include substance abuse treatment, mental health crises, domestic violence, critical incidences, youth corrections, individual, couples and family counseling. I have worked with clients who have had issues with depression, anxiety, stress and psychsocial problems. While I have benefitted greatly from these experiences, I believe myself to be most effective in individual counseling. I have taken the benefit of all these experiences and combined them to be the best counselor I can be. No matter the initial presentation of my clients, their issues tend to fall into one or more of the areas of my experience. As a therapist, my theoretical approaches tend to be solution focused, reality based with an emphasis on how my client views him or herself and the world around them. I believe we all make decisions and exhibit individual behaviors based on what we perceive is happening to us and the world around us. My goal is to help my clients determine if their beliefs, as well as their actions, are helping them be the best they can be. In addition to that, I work to ensure that my clients have the emotional tools they need to appropriately and effectively manage the emotional ups and downs of life. As I see it, life is "a continuum of temporary circumstances that we all must navigate the best we can with the skills we have". My calling is to serve others, with the hope that I can contribute in some way to helping them make their lives better..

I am a provisional Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I received my Masters in Social Work from East Carolina University in 2009. I have been providing support to children, adolescences, adults with disabilities, and their families since 2003. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, trauma, Mood Disorders, and ADHD. I also have helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. It’s an honor to be able to come along side others during their journey. I am passionate about helping women, parents raising adolescents and/or foster children, and young adults. It has also been a pleasure supporting foster parents as they learn various behavioral management techniques to best support a child demonstrating challenging behaviors. My counseling style is a strengths-based approach and I use a collaborative problem solving approach to help tackle life’s challenges. But I have learned along the way there is nothing to big for God to help us through. He has taught me I can trust in Him and His plans are greater than my plans.(Jeremiah 28:11, Romans 8:28-29)

Use of diagnosis: Some health insurance companies will reimburse clients for counseling services and some will not. Most will require a diagnosis of a mental-health condition and indicate that you must have an “illness” before they will agree to reimburse you. Some conditions for which people seek counseling do not qualify for reimbursement. We will discuss the use of diagnosis and if/when submitted to your insurance company it will become a part of your permanent insurance records. I began working with BetterHelp as an online therapist in October 2021. All billing and scheduling is handled through the BetterHelp platform. Diagnosis is not used as a tool in this format and clients must agree to use 911 for emergencies as this is not a platform to be used for crisis intervention. All billing is handled through their organization. Some other telehealth organizations will require a diagnosis and will bill insurance. Private practice sessions are usually 50-60 minutes. Cost varies between individual and family conjoint sessions. I provide phone sessions for clients who live out of the area. These sessions are generally 30-45 minutes in length. Use of a diagnosis will be discussed and can be used as a road map for treatment in my private practice if on a self – pay basis. I will keep confidential anything you say as part of our counseling relationship with the following exceptions: You direct me in writing to disclose information to someone else, it is determined you are a danger to yourself or others, or I am ordered by a court to disclose information. Although clients are encouraged to discuss any concerns with me first, you may file a complaint against me with the organization below should you feel I am in violation of any of these codes of ethics. Find a therapist near you in Randleman, North Carolina

Finding a therapist near you in Randleman, North Carolina starts with matching to a licensed professional who fits your needs, schedule, and goals. North Carolina is home to people with diverse mental health needs across urban, suburban, and rural communities, which can make it challenging to find care. BetterHelp connects you with a licensed therapist through tailored matching, so you can begin care from home or wherever works for you.

The network includes over 30,000 licensed therapists globally, and over 4 million people have used BetterHelp to find support through online therapy. During matching, 93% of user preferences are met, which helps you connect with a therapist suited to what you are looking for. Whether you are searching for help with anxiety, trauma, affordable or insurance covered therapy, weekend or flexible scheduling, or virtual sessions, you can find a therapist and get started when you are ready.

Why work with a licensed therapist near you?

Working with a licensed therapist near you gives you access to professional mental health support from someone trained to help you understand and manage what you are going through. A licensed therapist can offer evidence-based approaches, a steady space to talk, and guidance tailored to your situation. In North Carolina, online therapy can make that care more accessible, since sessions happen from home or wherever you are, without the need to travel to an office. This can help if your schedule is full, if travel is difficult, or if you simply prefer a more discreet setting. You can learn more about what a therapist does on the therapist role page.

Online therapy can be especially helpful for people living across North Carolina, where access to in-person mental health care may vary by location.

What concerns can therapists help with?

Therapists can help with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety and stress, depression, trauma and PTSD, self-esteem and identity, people-pleasing and fear of rejection, insomnia and racing thoughts, workplace stress and burnout, substance use, parenting and co-parenting stress, grief and loss, and relationship and family challenges. Therapists on BetterHelp may draw on approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), depending on your needs and goals. You can explore support for specific concerns on pages such as generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and eating disorders.

Please note that therapists on BetterHelp do not provide psychiatric medication management or formal diagnoses.

Online therapy vs. in-person therapy in North Carolina

Online therapy and in-person therapy both connect you with a licensed professional, and the main difference is how you meet. In North Carolina, online therapy through BetterHelp lets you have sessions by phone, video, or in-app messaging, so you can meet from home or on a schedule that fits your life. In-person therapy takes place at an office and may involve travel and set appointment windows. Online therapy may be more accessible for people with busy schedules, limited transportation, or a preference for a more discreet setting. Both formats can support meaningful progress, so the right choice often comes down to what fits your life.
