Keith Harris
About Me I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been in practice as a therapist for over twenty years. Prior to joining BetterHelp, I served in the U. S. Military as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Commissioned Officer. After retiring from the military, I began my second career with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My practice areas include working with clients experiencing a broad range of Mental Health issues, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship/marital and family problems, work-related stress, and interest in improving self-esteem, health and lifestyle, and quality of life issues. My approach to online counseling is grounded in the belief that we are each trying to do our best (given our genetics, family training, and current circumstances). However, we tend to get stuck in certain emotional patterns, thought patterns, and behavioral patterns. In order to help with this “stuckness,” I utilize a combination of evidence-based treatments including, Humanistic and CognitiveTherapies. All of this occurs within a safe online counseling environment creating a trusting relationship that we will build over time. Please know that I am committed to giving you quality care and protecting your privacy and I will do my best to help you achieve the goals that you came to BetterHelp to resolve. My previous clients found their online counseling sessions to be very helpful in addressing whatever presenting issues that they have chosen to discuss in counseling. I look forward to meeting with you!

I was a Marine wife for almost 30 years and have traveled allot, I have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. I have worked primarily over this past 17 years with trauma and substance abuse in the adult population with about 3 years working with the teenage population in these areas. I believe in working with individuals and families to achieve their highest goals. I believe the client is the expert in his/her own life and I fully encourage one to strive to work towards building a strong foundation within themselves and their families whatever that looks like to them, to that end I use focused solution therapy, internal systems therapy, mindfulness/compassion therapy, cognitive and cognitive behavioral, dialectical therapy, emotional freedom techniques and/or neurolinguistic techniques . Most people face challenges in their lives and I believe sharing those difficulties with a professional counselor can be one of the best ways to overcome any obstacle. Whether the challenge is big or small, mental health therapy can help you find the answers you seek. Often, people just need to be heard and validated for their emotions or they want a sounding board off which to bounce possible decisions. Some might not want to share their thoughts and feelings with another person in their life for fear of being judged. Others may be dealing with concerns related to anxiety, depression, addiction, PTSD or women's issues. Whatever your reasons are for seeking therapy, I would like to walk with you on your journey to better mental and emotional health. My approach to therapy is person-centered, which means you have the power to find solutions that work best for you. You can expect me to listen and empower you to promote healing and change without judgement. Through a solution-focused lens, we will discover and use your strengths to accomplish your goals. In addition, I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) so that we can discover the relationships between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how these are contributing to any challenges you are facing today. My goal is to encourage you to become the best version of yourself in a judgment-free environment. On a personal note, I am a small business owner and clients from my Authentic Living Counseling practice will also use this platform. I am passionate about helping people overcome mental health and addiction issues by assisting them in achieving their personal goals. I look forward to meeting you.
Cathy Smith
Having graduated with undergrad degrees in Sociology (Criminology) and Spanish, I began working in a residential treatment home for youth with emotional and mental illnesses. My early work there, sparked my interest in psychology and counseling. After starting our family, I returned to school to earn a teaching certificate and a Masters degree in Special Education. After many years of teaching in a variety of settings; institutional, public, private and alternative education, I felt I really wanted more time to listen to and talk with my students. Because of this, I returned to the university once more to complete a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology, earning licensure as a Limited License Psychologist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Relationship is the key to effective counseling just as it is to effective teaching. Being open to learning about the life of your client; their ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual preference, work, and belief systems is important as a therapist. Knowing your own limitations is also necessary. Life is very difficult at times, especially in these times! Helping clients to live their best lives is very important work. I use a variety of methods in working with clients. My clients’ ages have ranged from four years to seventy nine years. I work with people with depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, trauma, sexual and physical abuse, parenting problems, and even learning disabilities and people on the autism spectrum. Motivational interviewing, client centered work, solution focused, psychoeducational work, mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are tools that I use, based on what the client wants to achieve and their individual needs. Permeating all that I do is a strength based approach to looking at the person, always building on and utilizing their own strengths to partner with them to become healthy and happier.

Alyssa Meyer
Hello! I'm Alyssa (she/hers). I have been working as a clinician since 2021. I have vast experience with trauma, grief, sexual behavior problems and traumas, and general mental health. I have worked with individuals with anxiety, depression, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and other "life issues." I love to meet my clients where they are at and address any issues they are struggling with, however, grief and anxiety are my clinical favorites. I believe in the individuality of the person recognizing that "one size does not fit all" when it comes to therapy! I use a variety of modalities such as DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, solution-focused brief therapy, and activity therapy. I focus on individual mental health needs, and psycho education. I use a trauma-informed approach. I have experience providing individual, group, and family therapies and leading support groups. I recognize that starting therapy can be a scary journey for some. I want to create a safe space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings in a judgement free zone.
