Thank you for taking the time out to view my profile. Finding the right therapist to meet your individual needs is a very important step and I am hopeful that I will be able to assist you. I find great passion in assisting my clients in meeting and surpassing their full potential. After I obtained my Bachelors degree in Psychology, I continued my education and received a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am licensed in multiple states, a National Certified Counselor, a Certified Clinical Supervisor, and a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider. I have experience with working with individuals of all ages, ethnicities, races, religions, sexual orientations, and genders. Although I use multiple counseling techniques (Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered, Solution Focused, etc) in order to meet my client's individual needs, my work with clients is primarily from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy perspective. I believe that the connections between rationality and emotion as well as mind and body are essential in accomplishing behavioral change through logical thinking. Becoming more aware of damaging automatic thoughts and acquiring the ability to revise cognitions impacts one’s behaviors and ultimately may lead to positive change. In addition, I hold a great appreciation for the unconscious and the power it has over one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The intimate process of making the unconscious conscious is a fundamental step toward growth, development, and change. Being able to recognize how unresolved conflicts from the past influence the present and manifests in unhealthy cyclical patterns gives one the power and confidence to take control. It is my belief that therapy is an intense, engaging, rewarding, and collaborative process. One of the main purposes of therapy is for one to gain a deeper understanding of self by exploring personal experiences, perspectives, and expectations. Regardless of the presenting issue, I provide my clients with a high level of respect, honesty, and genuineness. After successful completion of therapy, it is my hope that my clients will be able to incorporate what will be presented throughout therapy sessions into multiple life circumstances.

Hello! I'm so glad you are here! If you are ready to make some changes in life that are likely to result in improved mental health, improved quality of life, and general well being; you came to the right place! My approach in counseling is in general to look at the person as a whole; not as their symptoms of problems. I use holistic, solution focused, and trauma informed models to engage client's in the counseling process and achieve their goals. I have been trained in trauma informed approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); which uses several tools to help client's negative past events have less emotional impact on their lives. I am also certified in a counseling approach called seed digging therapy (SD), which is developed off the therapy developed in the 90's called theophostic therapy. The premise of seed digging therapy (SD) is that each individual is generally mostly good, has a desire to be good to others, and wants to have a happy and productive life. The model states that a person's heart is a "garden" which in analogy has "weeds" and "flowers". Traumatic/Sad events tend to produce weeds and Happy events tend to produce flowers. Weeds in a persons heart can cause many negative reactions in life ranging from interpersonal relationships, self esteem, negative view of the world. Weeds occur when a lie is believed about that sad/bad event. Examples of weeds: not feeling adequate, feeling unloved, feeling a lack of importance. Flowers are developed when something happens that is positive/ good, and the individual believes something good about themselves. Examples of flowers: I do matter, I am important, I am loved, I belong in this group, family, friendship etc. The process of seed digging therapy is to find where the root of the negative thoughts started, and create an alternate belief opposite of the negative. Using narrative techniques, the person has the opportunity to recreate meaning if they want to. I am very excited to meet you, get to know you and help see you to the other side of where you want to be. If you would like to work more with me, we can talk more about your goals and what steps to take to get there.

If you are perusing provider ‘about me’ spots here, chances are that the idea of therapy has been on your mind -- and perhaps on your to-do list -- for a while. You may have looked, decided to seek therapy, and then did not follow through. You have been “too busy.” That’s a real issue in our world, no doubt.Telehealth can help with that, but perhaps you are reluctant to seek therapy because it is a bit daunting: why should you tell a stranger all about you? Good point! Here are some ideas for your consideration. First, the stranger can keep your secrets, absent exceptional circumstances. Second, taking time for you to seek to know yourself and your direction is hardly ever a bad idea. Third, if there are things in your way, therapy could help you remove them. Change is difficult. No doubt about it. You might benefit from talking to someone, or at least giving it a try. A good listening to can be enlightening. Please take a look at my background and, if you are interested, reach out to schedule a meeting. I look forward to meeting you.

I am a doctoral-level Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with two decades of clinical experience. My practice centers on anxiety in its many forms (the everyday kind, social anxiety, panic), on the stress that quietly wears people down, on grief and loss, and on the life transitions that leave you feeling unsteady. A good portion of my work is with professionals, the high-responsibility people who hold everything together for everyone else and rarely get asked how they are doing. My practice is never limited to one kind of person, though. I also work closely with caregivers, with people managing chronic illness or disability, and with anyone wrestling with isolation, attachment, or the quiet sense that they have lost their footing. My doctoral research looked at how adults use assistance animals to cope with anxiety, and the human-animal bond (regulation, companionship, meaning) is still a real thread in how I work. I bring particular depth to anticipatory grief, the heavy, ongoing kind caregivers carry while someone they love is still here, and to forgiveness, both toward others and toward yourself. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. You are the expert on your own life. I am here to help you make sense of what you are carrying, rebuild your footing and your sense of self, and move at a pace that actually works for you.
